Cedar City is at a crossroads. Rapid growth has brought opportunity, but also serious challenges with roads, water, and infrastructure. Phil Schmidt understands these issues better than anyone—because he has built, maintained, and managed them for decades through his work in civil construction. He has firsthand knowledge of how to deliver strong infrastructure that lasts, and he knows where our city is falling behind. As mayor, Phil will focus on securing reliable culinary water solutions that provide immediate relief while planning responsibly for the future. He will prioritize upgrades to roads, sewer, and utilities so they keep pace with growth and ensure Cedar City thrives without falling behind. Phil also believes in fiscal responsibility, using his business background to make smart financial decisions, cut waste, and direct resources to where they are needed most. He believes in TEAM—Together Everyone Achieves More—and knows the city is strongest when leaders listen, collaborate, and act decisively. Phil is not running for recognition or benefit; he is running because Cedar City deserves a leader who understands the work, cares deeply about the people, and has the knowledge to strengthen our future—one step at a time.
Strong infrastructure keeps a city moving forward. We will maintain and improve essential services-including water, roads, sewer, and parks-so Cedar City remains safe, efficient, and welcoming. Every dollar will be invested wisely to serve both current and future residents.
Growth is important for out future, but it must follow the right path. By committing to the City’s Master Plan, we can ensure development happens in a way that supports residents, protects neighborhoods, and preserves the character that makes Cedar City home. I will also encourage new business opportunities that bring good-paying jobs.
Water is our most critical resource. By partnering with the Water Conservancy District, we can rely on experts with the knowledge and experience to help us locate, develop, and protect water for our growing community. Securing long-term water solutions means securing Cedar City’s future
